MABEL AITKEN

Head of Acting

Mabel’s initial training was the 3 year Acting DDA at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. From there she worked as an actress in many theatres including the The Traverse and Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, The Citizens Theatre, Glasgow and in London at The Donmar Warehouse, The Young Vic and the Southwark Playhouse. Her Television and film credits include My Family, Coming Soon, Sea of Souls, The Key and The Life of Stuff as well as many other dramas.

She has an MA in Performance Making and Acting Methodology from Goldsmiths University. Her directing credits include Otis and Eunice, an immersive piece for The Virtual Conservatoire and Raucous, A Midsummer Nights Dream for Oxford and Mary Stuart for BADA. Her teaching began at East 15 Drama college and The British American Drama Academy. She has worked at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for the last four years where she was Lead Acting Tutor and Screen Acting tutor. She has been Screen Acting Mentor for the BFI Academy for the last four years. Last summer she taught and directed on The Oxford Programme at Oxford University and she has developed and written a one year Screen Acting MA for Bristol Old Vic Theatre school validated by UWE for 2021.
