MICHELLE GASKELL
Head of Movement
Michelle began her career in 1990 as a dancer and choreographer. She went on to work as teacher and choreographer for theatre (National Youth Theatre Wales, National Student Drama Festival) opera (English Touring Opera and WNO) and as a performer with touring dance companies (The Sisters Bon Bon, Glasshouses and Conscious Opera Association, Dansconnect).
In 2000 she made her professional debut as movement director at Bristol Old Vic (The Wizard of Oz, Wind in The Willows, Beggars Opera, A Chorus of Disapproval and Antigone).
An associate artist of Myrtle Theatre Company based at Tobacco Factory Theatre from 2004 to 2013, Michelle worked with director Heather Williams on Through The Wire, Jollity Farm, Hot Air and Up Down Boy, which completed its tour at The National Theatre in 2013. In 2014 Michelle joined Bristol Old Vic Theatre School as movement teacher and movement director for productions such as London Road (Dir. Nic Bone), Trojan Women (Dir. Sally Cookson), Earthquakes in London (Dir. Cressida Brown), The Laramie Project (Dir. by Nancy Medina).
Joining Bristol School of Acting in 2021 as Head of Movement, Michelle has provided movement support to productions Fefu and Friends (Nancy Medina), Icarus (Nancy Medina), Beautiful Thing (Elinor Lower) and The Cherry Orchard (Stuart Wood).
