Wellbeing at BSA
We understand that sometimes our students might want a helping hand. That’s why our support network is here should they ever need it.
We offer around 9 hours of FREE counselling to our degree students each week.
Counselling at BSA
Counselling provides our degree students with a safe space to talk about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their lives as students at BSA. Our counsellors help students to understand themselves better and work through any problems they might be facing. They help students find their own answers and make positive changes in their lives.
Meet the Team
Introducing our counsellors, Clare Mitchell and Nicholas Shearer Burgess. They are fully qualified and experienced counsellors registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Both of our counsellors draw on a number of different psychotherapeutic models to support their work, but at the heart of what they do lies the creation of a trusting relationship where our students feel respected and heard.
When do we offer counselling?
It’s normal to feel sad or anxious or to experience problems with certain relationships from time to time. However, if life at BSA is making our students feel overwhelmed or stuck, and things aren’t changing or they get worse over time, then counselling could be helpful.
After an initial assessment, we offer students a ‘block’ of counselling for a series of up to 8 sessions. Sessions will be at the same time each week and will take place in the Study Room at BSA on Silver Street (BS1 2AG) and last 50 minutes.
